On My Honor,
I Will Do My Best...

Serving the youth of northeast Indianapolis through Scouting since 1989

Pack 444 brings the Cub Scouting program to the youth in the Geist and Lawrence areas of Indianapolis. Cub Scouts is a year-round, family-oriented program of the Boy Scouts of America that's designed for boys and girls in kindergarten through fifth grades. Its purpose is to prepare our children to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

We regularly meet at or around Amy Beverland Elementary School and are chartered with the Boy Scouts of America through Gateway Community Church. Consider joining us for our next activity and learn more about the Scouting adventure.

What's Cub Scouts?

Cub Scouts belong to a pack & den

As a Cub Scout, you will be part of your own pack. Pack 444 is the Cub Scout group for Amy Beverland Elementary School, Gateway Community Church, and the surrounding Geist and Lawrence community. The Pack is led by parents who volunteer their time to bring Cub Scouting to all of our families.

The pack is divided into smaller groups called dens. Each den has about six to ten Scouts. All of the Cub Scouts in your den are in the same grade, live around you, and may even go to the same school.

Our Pack belongs to the Boy Scouts of America, which is part of Scouting around the world and has over 2.5 million youth members. In Central Indiana, the BSA supports us through the Crossroads of America Council, which serves over 33,000 youth in Scouting programs.

cub scouts do things & go places

Cub Scouts have fun! No matter what grade you are in, kindergarten through fifth, it can be a blast. Do you like to learn by doing? This is just the place. You can learn to tie knots, set up a tent, or shoot a bow and arrow (archery). Have you ever cooked a meal on a campfire? Sent a secret code to a buddy? Built a birdhouse? Hiked? You'll do these things in Cub Scouts.

Cub Scouts go awesome places. Have you been to the local police station and talked to the policemen on duty? Or visited the fire station and sat in the driver’s seat of the pumper truck? Or visited the local TV station and sat in the news anchor’s chair? These are some of the places you might go with your den or pack.

Cub Scouts build their adventure. You'll even get to build a pinewood derby car and race it on the track, and build a model rocket and launch it high into the sky. We do all this and more in Pack 444

cub scouts earn awards

You earn a reward each time you complete an accomplishment or learn a new skill Sometimes the reward is a loop for your belt, a pin, or a patch. Sometimes it is a smile on your parents’ faces to see you grow and learn.

You'll earn a new rank badge each year to show how much you've done, learned, and grown. Kindergarteners earn their Lion badge, first graders earn the Tiger badge, second graders earn the Wolf badge, and third graders earn the Bear badge. Our fourth and fifth graders work toward two special ranks that prepare them to become Boy Scouts: fourth graders earn the Webelos badge and fifth graders earn the Arrow of Light—Cub Scouting's highest award!

Show off your awards on your special uniform that shows everyone that you're a Cub Scout!
